Let's leave this place a better place for our children and future generations. |
The not-for-profit Vancouver Diaper Circle (formerly the Real Diaper Circle for Metro Vancouver) was founded by Amy Fong, born out of her family's passion for cloth diapering and a desire to spread awareness about the many benefits of cloth diapering to other families. Even though there are many health, financial and environmental concerns associated with using disposable diapers, still only a small percentage of families presently use cloth diapers. Thus, given the limited use of cloth diapers within the community, as with many other families Amy found it to be a struggle to tackle the learning curve when her family decided to transition to using cloth diapers with their firstborn child. The Vancouver Diaper Circle strives to make cloth diapers more accessible to all families within the community, one baby at a time, by connecting cloth diapering parents and providing face-to-face cloth diapering education and support. Amy is trained in Marshall Rosenberg's Non-Violent Communication techniques and draws from the varied experiences of and training provided by cloth diapering advocates and educators across North America.
Amy was born and raised in metro Vancouver, and currently resides there with her husband and two daughters. When she is not engaged in cloth diaper advocacy, you will find her advocating in a different field (namely, practicing intellectual property law), or enjoying the outdoors with her family. She also volunteers with Cloth for a Cause in assisting with coordinating loans of cloth diapers to local families in need. If you are interested in learning more about cloth diapering options for your family, please consider joining us for a cloth diapering 101 workshop or a cloth diaper circle meeting. |
